We hate cancelling. Genuinely. Every cancellation is a disappointed family and kids left waiting. But when rain rolls in, sometimes we have no choice. Here's the honest, parent-to-parent reason why.
The simple truth
Water + Electricity = Danger
Our inflatable nightclub runs on a stack of electrical gear that sits at the rear of the structure. When rain sets in, it gets wet - and wet electrical equipment is a serious safety hazard. We're not being cautious. We're being compliant.
Industrial blower (keeps the structure inflated)
Disco lighting system
Sound system
Smoke machine
Our insurance won't cover wet weather
This isn't just about us being careful. Our insurance policy explicitly states we cannot operate in rain. If we set up in rain and someone gets injured: insurance is void, we're personally liable, and you (as the hirer) could become liable too. Legal and medical costs land on individuals, not insurers. We won't risk that. Not for anyone.
It's not just about rain during your event
“But the rain's only forecast for the morning and my party is at 6pm!”
We hear this a lot and we get the frustration. Morning rain creates problems even if it clears by evening:
Waterlogged ground. Electrical gear sits on grass. Boggy soil means compromised safety, possible equipment damage, and unsafe setup for our crew.
Mud & slip hazards. Our 16 anchor pegs need firm ground to hold a 150kg structure. Wet soil won't cut it.

Tarps, garages & verandahs
We get asked constantly. Short answer: a tarp can help guest comfort on the ground, but it can't be attached to the structure, can't cover electrical gear safely, and isn't a substitute for dry conditions. Covered areas (garage, verandah, shed) almost always fail our anchoring requirement: 16 steel pegs, 400mm deep, into natural grass. That's our engineering certification - we can't change it.
You can
Use a tarp on the ground for guest comfort
Have a backup indoor activity ready
Talk to us about timing adjustments
You can't
Attach a tarp to the inflatable
Set up on concrete, pavers or decking
Anchor into artificial turf
Parent to parent
We're a family business
We have kids. We know what it's like planning a celebration and having weather ruin it. Every cancellation is lost income for us too - we're not being difficult. We'll problem-solve every angle with you: timing, covered grass, equipment shelter, alternate dates. But if there's no safe solution, we have to cancel.

FAQ
Can't you just set it up and we'll take the risk?+
No. Our insurance won't cover it, and we won't put you in a position of personal liability if something goes wrong.
Other companies operate in rain - why can't you?+
We can't speak for other operators. We can only tell you what our insurance and engineering certification require. We operate compliantly, every time.
What if it's only drizzling?+
Light drizzle that clears quickly is different from sustained rain. We assess each situation individually based on intensity, duration, and ground conditions.
Can I get a discount instead of cancelling?+
Safety isn't negotiable. We either operate safely or we don't operate at all. No amount of discount changes the risk.
Will you cover costs of food/cake I already ordered?+
Unfortunately we can't cover third-party costs. This is why we recommend waiting until close to the event to order perishables.
Can you recommend indoor alternatives?+
We're not aware of indoor inflatable nightclub options that meet the same standards. Your best bet is rescheduling with us or planning an alternative indoor party activity.
Final thoughts
Rain cancellations are the worst part of our business. We'd rather set up in blazing sun every single weekend than make these calls. But we're parents running a family business - safety will always come first. If we cancel your event, it's because there's genuinely no safe way to proceed. We hope you never experience one. But if you do, know we've exhausted every option before making that call.
This page explains our operating practice for wet weather. For the official cancellation fee structure and rescheduling terms, see our Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy.
